Terms of use

Last updated 25 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Michiplan, a trip planner run by an independent developer (“we”). By signing in you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use Michiplan.

Plans are suggestions

Michiplan suggests an order to visit places in, using opening hours, timetables and travel times from public sources and our own estimates. These can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and some times are estimated from distance and marked as estimates. Services change, close or run late. Always check times, opening hours and bookings with the operator before you travel. You decide what to do on your trip, and Michiplan is not responsible for missed connections, closed places or bookings.

The same goes for everything else Michiplan shows: fares, prices, walking times (worked out for an average pace), luggage services, hotels and places to stay (taken from open map data, not reviewed or recommended by us), photos and descriptions. A plan being the best order Michiplan found does not mean it is the best possible, or that it suits you.

Michiplan is a planning tool, not a travel agent: it does not sell tickets, make bookings or provide travel services. It does not give advice on safety, health, visas, insurance, accessibility, weather or local rules. Earthquakes, typhoons, strikes and closures can change any plan; follow official warnings and local instructions, and keep your own travel insurance.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure: what happens in your Michiplan account is your responsibility. One account is for one person. You must be at least 13, or older where your country sets a higher age for agreeing to an online service yourself.

Cost

Michiplan is a free beta. Everything in it is free, and nothing is sold.

A tip through Ko-fi, if you choose to give one, is a gift to the developer: it buys nothing in Michiplan, unlocks nothing, and is handled by Ko-fi and its payment provider under their own terms.

Emails from us

We may email you about your account and changes to these terms. These are part of the service, so you cannot turn them off while you have an account. We never send marketing unless you ask for it.

Your trips

Your trips belong to you. You allow us to store and process them only to run Michiplan for you. When you share an itinerary, anyone with the link can read it until the link expires, so share only what you are happy for them to see. You are responsible for what you write in your trips, such as names and notes, and you allow us to show a shared itinerary to the people who open its link.

We look after your trips carefully, but no service can promise never to lose data. Before you travel, keep your own copy of anything you rely on.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Michiplan without owing you anything.

Fair use

Please do not:

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Unless it is serious or the law stops us, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to explain.

Our service

The app, its design, code and planning methods belong to Michiplan. Map and place data come from other sources under their own licences, listed on sources and credits. Keeping to what this page promises about closing, we may change, pause or stop Michiplan, or any part of it, and we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.

We may stop Michiplan for a short time to maintain or fix it, and features marked as estimated or new may change as we improve them.

Michiplan relies on other services, such as Google sign-in, our hosting, map providers and public timetables, and links to other sites, such as Google Maps, railway operators, hotels and Ko-fi. They are not ours, we are not responsible for them, and their own terms apply when you use them.

Liability

Michiplan is provided as it is and as available. As far as the law allows, we give no promises beyond those written in these terms, including that it is accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for:

Our total liability to you is limited to USD 50. Where the law allows a time limit, a claim must be made within one year of what caused it.

If you use Michiplan against these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, as far as the law allows.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for loss we cause deliberately or by gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Ending

You can stop using Michiplan at any time and delete your account on the Account page, or ask us at hello@michiplan.com. What happens to your data is described in the privacy policy.

Law

If something goes wrong, please write to us first; most problems can be put right quickly. Nothing in these terms takes away the protection the consumer law where you live gives you, including the right to bring a dispute to its courts.

Changes

We change these terms only for a good reason, such as a new feature, a change in the law or to stop misuse. We will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email before a significant change takes effect. Using Michiplan after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can delete your account.

The rest

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may pass these terms to whoever takes over Michiplan, and they would have to keep to them. What these terms say about liability and disputes still applies after your account ends. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us. They are written in English, and if a translation differs, the English version applies.
