Hiroshima and Miyajima in 2 days: a day-by-day itinerary
2 days · 6 places · Nights near Shin-Hakushima 新白島
This plan spends its one night near Shin-Hakushima station, a short walk from Hiroshima Castle, and gives each day one half of the trip. Day 1 starts at the castle and Shukkei-en garden while they are close by, then rides out to Miyajima for Daishō-in Temple and Itsukushima Shrine in the late afternoon. Day 2 stays in the Peace Memorial Park from nine until about four: the A-Bomb Dome in the morning, then three hours in the museum after lunch before the airport.
Calculated by Michiplan for a trip starting Wed, Dec 2, 2026, with days from 06:00. Every ride here is estimated from how often its line runs: no open timetable covers these lines. Check the times before you go.

Good to know
- From the airport the plan goes straight to the hotel area near Shin-Hakushima to leave your bags, and picks them up again at 15:57 on day 2 on the way back, so neither the island nor the museum is done with a suitcase.
- On Miyajima the plan climbs to Daishō-in first and then walks about ten minutes downhill to Itsukushima Shrine, so the slope is behind you by the time you reach the water.
- Itsukushima Shrine looks different with the tide: at high water the shrine and its great torii seem to stand in the sea, at low water you can walk out across the sand to the gate. A tide table for your date tells you which one 16:53 will give you.
- The shrine's opening hours are not part of this plan and it is the last stop of day 1, so check its closing time for your date; if it is early, cut the time at the castle rather than at the shrine.
